William A. Holt, M.S.S., CCCJS, is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Sociology and Criminal Justice at Saint Joseph’s University in Philadelphia, PA (USA). He is also an Adjunct Professor in the Sociology & Criminal Justice Program at St. Joseph’s University and the Behavioral Health & Family Therapy Program at Drexel University. For the past decade and a half, William has been at the forefront in developing specialized residential, treatment, case management and specialized aftercare services for offenders with behavioral health issues. He has worked in and with a variety of correctional institutions (county, state and federal) and with behavioral health providers and governmental agencies in systems transformation.
During the past 28 years, William has served as the Co-Chair of the Pennsylvania Forensic Rights and Treatment Conference. He also has served as President of the National Organization of Forensic Social Workers, Chair of the Philadelphia, Southeast and Pennsylvania State Community Support Advisory Committee and worked in collaboration with a number of other organizations which have focused on systems transformation for offenders with behavioral health issues. William has been involved with a number of training initiatives to educate the community, law enforcement, educational institutions and behavioral health providers in understanding the unique issues and evidenced based approaches in treating offenders.
He has served on numerous task forces in Pennsylvania, regionally and nationally that were focused on systems change for the criminal justice system and in his research has focused on systems change, treatment and community services for offenders with behavioral health issues. He is an active member of the National Organization of Forensic Social Work, the National Alliance on Mental Illness, the National Association of Forensic Counselors, NAADAC, The Association for Addiction Professional, the Bucks County Community Support Advisory Committee, and Voices & Visions Board of Directors.
