Robert R. Daniel is an Assistant Professor of French in the Department of Modern and Classical Languages at Saint Joseph’s University. He teaches French language, literature and culture at all levels, as well as francophone studies, literature in translation, and interdisciplinary first-year seminars and Honors courses. Some of his courses and turtorials are conducted fully online. His scholarly interests include nineteenth-century French literature and intellectual culture, historical and cultural perspectives of the French-speaking Caribbean, postcolonial theory, ethics, cross-cultural communication, evolutionary psychology, digital education, Atlantic History, so-called "wicked problems," and critical responses to the Anthropocene. He has published on second-language pedagogy and French writers François Villon, Charles Baudelaire and Edouard Ourliac. He blogs on education, learning, and global studies. His instructional strategies are learner centered, invite students to codesign the curriculum, and make significant use of digital media and current events.
