Professor Strand has served as a physician assistant since 2010. Professor Strand is a native of Philadelphia, PA. She graduated from the Philadelphia High School for Girls’. At an early age, she knew she wanted to pursue a career in medicine but was unsure which path to pursue. Her exposure to the PA profession didn’t occur until after she graduated college. Professor Strand received her Master of Science in PA Studies from Seton Hall University in South Orange, NJ in 2010. After graduating from Seton Hall University, she returned to Philadelphia to serve her native community. She began working as a primary care PA at a federally qualified healthcare center. During her 6 years of service in primary care, she was the lead on-site clinician providing primary care to community members living with HIV. She continues her advocacy for prevention, treatment, and care for those with or at risk for HIV. Currently, she practices urgent care medicine at a local urgent care center providing care to those in need of acute care. Her academic interests include women’s health, infectious diseases, and diagnostics in medicine. She continues to increase awareness of the PA profession with a goal to diversify the profession and combat health care disparities.
“My goal is to prepare our future PAs to become providers that make patients feel worthy, accepted, and respected while delivering the best healthcare possible.”
