Professor Dubendorfer has been a physician assistant since 1998. She is a graduate of the Physician Assistant program at Duquesne University. She began her career as a family medicine PA in the United States Navy, serving at Naval Hospital Pensacola and Navy Health Clinics Hawaii. Within her family medicine practice, she developed particular interests in pediatrics, women’s health, and the treatment of alcohol and substance use disorders.
After being honorably discharged from the Navy, Professor Dubendorfer became one of the first physician assistants to practice within the United Kingdom’s National Health Service. Upon returning to the United States in 2008, she transitioned to full-time academia. Her teaching and scholarly interests include veteran healthcare, diversity and inclusion in medicine, and promoting equity in medical and health professions education.
