Dr. Rashmi Malhotra is a professor of decision and system sciences at Saint Joseph’s University. Dr. Malhotra specializes in the area of artificial intelligence, object-oriented systems, knowledge management, and business intelligence. She has published over 50 research articles in various journals that include European Journal of Operational Research, Omega—The International Journal of Management Science, Journal of Intelligent Systems, Knowledge-based Systems, and International Journal of Electronic Business and more than 87 proceedings publications. In addition, she has presented around 104 papers in different academic conferences. In addition, she is the Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Business Intelligence and Systems Engineering (IJBISE) (Inderscience Publishers). She also serves on the editorial boards of International Journal of Applied Management Science, International Journal of Data Analysis Techniques and Strategies, International Journal of Management Research, International Journal of Strategic Decision Sciences (IJSDS), Journal of Management Systems, Collaborative Filtering Using Data Mining and Analysis, and Journal of Distributed Sensor Networks.

- Developed an Office Automation System for James River Inc., Virginia.
- This system was a customized employee appraisal writer. The user can appraise an employee using a set of phrases, classified under various categories in the system’s knowledge base.
- Developed an Expert System Building Tool for Defense Purposes at the Defense Research and Development Organization, INDIA.
- The expert system shell was developed, using frame-based methodology. The system was used to develop a Gynae expert system for the Gynecology department of Lok Nayak hospital, Delhi.
