Dr. Garrigan's research involves human experimental studies of object recognition and shape representation. He also studies these problems in deep neural networks for object classification. Dr. Garrigan and his students are also investigating how basic memory research can be used to optimize training procedures.
Dr. Garrigan received Bachelor's degrees in psychology and physics at the University of Pennsylvania in 1999. In 2005 he received a Ph.D. in psychology from UCLA working with Dr. Philip Kellman. Following a postdoctoral fellowship at Penn under the supervision of Dr. Vijay Balasubramanian, Dr. Garrigan joined the Saint Joseph's University psychology department in August, 2007.
