Occupational History:
Nicole was born in Baltimore, MD and grew up in the suburbs of Philadelphia where she continues to live with her husband and son, Isaac. In her free time, Nicole likes to watch movies and travel particularly to the beach. Nicole enjoys spending time with her family and enjoys playing with the two youngest members, her son and her nephew. She loves to take them to events around the city including as many Phillies, Eagles, and 76ers games as possible. She also loves going out to eat and trying new restaurants, attending Zumba classes, and shopping.
Nicole received her OTD from Temple University in May 2017. In her doctoral research, Nicole looked at the occupational therapy needs of young adults with disabilities and their families. The group that Nicole worked with were those with moderate to severe disabilities, those that would not be pursuing higher education or employment. Nicole saw the struggles of these individuals and their families not only with obtaining therapy services but also in their daily lives. In the future, Nicole would like to continue her research and advocating both within the occupational therapy profession and beyond for these young adults.
Nicole is graduate of the University of the Sciences (BS and MOT) and began teaching as an adjunct professor soon after graduation. She has worked in a variety of settings including school services, early intervention, IU classrooms. Outpatient pediatric care, home care, and subacute rehab. She has always loved working with students in the classroom and in the clinic. Nicole is excited to be teaching full time at Saint Joseph's University. She looks forward to being more directly involved with students and also working with the fieldwork team to place students for their fieldwork experiences.
