Meryl Halpern, M.A., serves as Director of the Office of International Students and Scholars (ISS) and has been at Saint Joseph’s University since January 1999. She is an advocate for the international students, assisting them with their immigration and other non-academic needs, from the time of admission until after they graduate. Meryl provides an orientation program for the F and J visa holders each semester and ensures that SJU is compliant with all federal immigration regulations.
Meryl has spent her entire career working in international education. Studying and working abroad persuaded her to pursue a career where she could be of assistance to international students. She received a bachelor’s degree in communications from the University of Delaware and a master of arts degree in Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL) from New York University.
