Dr. Morton is the David H. Burton Postdoctoral Fellow in the History Department. His research focuses on migration and state building in the New England/British North America borderlands, during the late 18th and early 19th centuries. In particular, he focuses on church networks, both Protestant and Catholic, and how they influenced border development.
Dr. Morton teaches courses in both Early American and Public History. He did his doctoral work at Boston College, and studied Public History at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.
His most recent publication is "Native Demands, Borderland Rivalry, and the Growth of Maine's Catholic Church," in the Summer 2022 issue of American Catholic Studies.
