Ivania has over 17 years of teaching experience in higher education. Her liberation and critical pedagogy approach is grounded in equity, collaboration, and trauma-informed, compassionate principles. Before transitioning to academia full-time in 2019, Ivania worked with individuals, couples, families, and groups in both public and private sectors in Miami-Dade County, Florida. She provided trauma-informed mental health services, including support for foster-care youth negatively impacted by commercial sexual exploitation and human trafficking. She is a proud mother, partner, hija, and community member.
