Ginette McManus has been a member of the Finance Department at Saint Joseph’s University since 1990. In addition to her academic experience at Saint Joseph’s University, Professor McManus has taught at Cleveland State University in Cleveland, Ohio, Concordia University in Montreal, Canada, and Laval University in Quebec City, Canada where she was the first woman to receive a Ph.D. in the College of Business and Administration Sciences. Before getting her Ph.D. in 1987 and her MBA in 1981, she was the general manager of a Canadian Aluminum company, where her business education really began.
Dr. McManus currently teaches advanced corporate finance and investments to undergraduate and graduate students in the MBA, EMBA and MS in Financial Services programs. She received the EMBA Teaching Excellence Award in 2000. She also pursued post-Ph.D. education in the area of Insurance and Risk Management at the Wharton School of Business of the University of Pennsylvania during the 2002-2003 academic year.
Professor McManus’ research is in the area of corporate signaling and restructuring, corporate performance and financial policies, domestic and international investments, emerging equity markets, and the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA). She has over 30 academic and practitioner publications in highly regarded national and international journals like the Quarterly Review of Economics and Finance, Journal of Multinational Financial Management, Journal of Applied Finance, Financial Services Review, Emerging Markets Review, and Global Finance Journal. In recognition of her scholarly works, she was the recipient of a Research Merit Award from Saint Joseph’s University in 1999 and several research grants from the Canadian Embassy in Washington D.C. over the 1995-2001 period. Her recent work has examined static and dynamic cointegration relationships of the German and U.K. stock markets with those of the major Central European countries which recently attained membership in the European Union. Professor McManus is also frequently selected as an ad-hoc reviewer for several well-known journal editors and book publishers. She has served on the editorial board of several publications as well as track and session chairs for numerous national and international conferences and professional organizations. She is a very active consultant for certified financial planning firms and sits on the investment committee of Lincoln Investment Planning Inc., an investment management firm.
Professor McManus was born in Quebec, Canada. She is married with one daughter and is an avid scuba diver and skier.
