My name is Deb and Nursing is my passion. I have enjoyed a 36+ year career in nursing, early in my career I served as a Hospice/home care nurse, I enjoyed getting to know families in their own environment. Providing care in someone's home is a very autonomous experience and helped me build resilience and confidence in my nursing skills. In the past 25+ years my focus has been Out-patient Oncology/ Infusion nursing and serving as a nurse manager for most of my career. Teaching this exciting and ever changing nursing specialty to nurses new to oncology/ infusion has been a large part of my life. Providing compassionate competent care to patients and their families is the best feeling.
Just as providing care is fulfilling our need to practice self care is a priority, work life balance is necessary to restore and renew ourselves to continue our chosen profession. Personally I enjoy time with my husband, adult children and grandchildren. I love my daily pet therapy with my cavapoo, Russo. Biking, traveling, watching comedy and crocheting help keep me relaxed and ready for life's challenges.
I look forward to sharing my knowledge and sense of humor with nursing students. Learning can be fun and interesting!
