Dr. Colfer is joining Saint Joseph's as Professor and Program Director of the Master of Healthcare Administration (MHA) program. He has over 13 years’ experience in higher education, which includes teaching graduate and undergraduate courses such as Multi-Discipline Strategic Management, U.S. and International Health Systems, Healthcare Finance, Methods of Inquiry and Analysis, and Issues and Trends in Health Policy. Dr. Colfer held faculty positions at Seton Hall University and the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia, as well as being an adjunct at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. His previous university service experience includes serving as Vice Chair of an Institutional Review Board, a faculty representative on a college-wide Executive Committee, a General Education Committee member, and a faculty advisor to multiple student organizations.
His professional experiences include working within the pharmaceutical industry as Director of Business Development and in global clinical project management in which he participated in strategic planning and clinical trial management of territories including parts of North & South America, Europe, Japan, China, and the Middle East. He also spent five years working in the Hackensack Meridian Health System as an allied health professional.
Dr. Colfer’s research interests focus on reimbursement policy of the economic burden of disability and the management of this burden within healthcare systems. He has published two articles on the impact of COVID-19 on MHA students over the past two years. He is a board member of The Healthcare Planning and Marketing Society of New Jersey.
