Bahaeddine Taoufik, PhD, is an assistant professor in the Department of Mathematics at Saint Joseph’s University in Philadelphia, PA (USA). Dr. Taoufik comes to SJU from the University of Lynchburg, where he was an assistant professor of Data Science and Statistics. He was also previously a member of the faculty at the Gabelli School of Business at Fordham University, where he taught statistics courses at the graduate level in both the MBA and Applied Statistics and Decision Making (M.S.S.D) programs. His research area is focused on functional data analysis (FDA) and its applications specifically to financial data. Most recently his work was centered on the period of the 2008 financial crisis and found that the "market effect on the stocks is stronger during period of high volatility.” He is currently a member of the American Statistical Association (ASA).
